Kekova History

Kekova Port of Kekova and sunken city, one of the commercial centers of Lycia, which was flooded as a result of earthquakes in the west of the Mediterranean in the 2nd century, attracts the attention of local and foreign tourists. Kekova, near the village of Kekova Üçağı in Antalya, is a popular destination for tourists due to its historical texture and the cleanest sea of ​​the Mediterranean, while it also contains extraordinary underwater and surface beauties. In the area where swimming and diving were prohibited, diving with special permission, most of the underwater historical buildings were demolished and some were under the sea sand due to currents. It drew attention that hundreds of amphoras were broken by treasure hunters at a depth of 20 meters and approximately 30 meters off the coast of Kekova island. While it was observed that the stairs extending from the island of Kekova into the sea were still intact, it was observed that the breakwaters of the two harbors on the north side of the island were not destroyed, but were surrounded by garbage thrown from boats passing by.
